Boxing Broadcast Gets Top-Tier Sound from Audio Visual Live, Inc.

Live televised boxing is a unique sport and to get good sound requires a unique approach.
Since 2012 Audio Visual Live, Inc. has been the exclusive provider of live sound reinforcement for Top Rank Boxing. Top Rank Boxing is the premier boxing promoter in the U.S and globally. Their events have been featured on ESPN, ESPN+, TBS, HBO, and Univision, as well as pay-per-view. In a broadcast event there is often a struggle between the PA in the room and sound on the broadcast. This is particularly a problem in live boxing. The live audience in the venue gets a show, with videos and live performances, and t-shirt tosses, and kiss-cam cameos. These are things that mostly the broadcast doesn’t want to hear.
That’s where we came in.
To Solve the problem we designed and deployed sound systems tailored to each venue. We needed to put speakers in areas where we needed coverage but also control. Using zones that can be sent a mix that can be adjusted on-the-fly, our team is able to react real-time to Ringside interviews and impromptu stand-ups. Integrating some direct zone control into the touring system allowed us to utilize house PA in most venues, while still maintaining even coverage and control in the most important seating areas. This hybrid model of house PA and touring system amounted to significant savings in production costs.
In some cases we deployed complete sound systems, such as the MGM Grand Garden arena in Las Vegas, NV, (pictured above) as well as the Forum in Los Angeles, CA. In addition to arena sound, Audio Visual Live is also instrumental in fight-week events, like press conferences, weigh-ins, etc. providing live and broadcast audio for streamed events before and after each fight.
